Home visits

Home visits are only available to those patients who are confirmed as Housebound OR too unwell to attend the surgery . If you think you need a home visit please telephone the surgery before 10.30am.

Home visiting is vital to patients who are housebound due to their current illness. However, it does draw a significant amount of clinician time from the surgery. It generally takes four times as long as a clinic consultation – resources are scarce and we ask that all patients jointly take responsibility for only using this resource when necessary.

Home visits will not be authorised for: lack of transport, child care issues, poor weather conditions or a patient’s financial situation. We will continue to work with patients who are restricted to specific appointment times due to transport issues.

Medication reviews

Most medication reviews are more appropriately and effectively done by our team of clinical pharmacists.

Care homes

As part of the ongoing work caring for our frail elderly patients in care homes, there is a designated GP that visits each care home weekly to review the patients.

The care homes under this practice include Asra House Nursing Home, Gokul Nivas, Mere Lodge, Spinney Lodge and Gwendolen House.
